On June 25, 2016 Madeline and Jim left Narragansett for their first trip to Pittsburgh. After an overnight in Pennsylvania's capital city -- Harrisburg -- to split up the eight hour drive, they arrived in Steel City on Sunday afternoon. It was a busy week, full of information sessions, consultations, and tests to determine if Madeline is a good candidate for a lung transplant. After another stop in Harrisburg, and a few hours stuck in Connecticut beach traffic, Madeline and Jim finally made it back to Narragansett to celebrate the Fourth of July. With any luck Madeline will be able to make it to Bonnet Shores this weekend to celebrate the holiday and see her friends one last time before moving to Pittsburgh. You read that right - moving to Pittsburgh! By Tuesday (July 5), Madeline should find out if she's been accepted to the Lung Transplant Program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. If that happens, she has to be within four hours of the hospital at all times, so she can get there quickly once lungs become available to her.
